If both you and your spouse are employed by DCPS and have benefit-eligible dependents on your medical plan, you are defined by DCPS as “Dual Spouse” employees, which means you are eligible for a significant medical insurance premium reduction. All Dual Spouse employees are required to meet with a Benefits Counselor or stop by the benefits office to complete their enrollment.

NOTE: If your Dual Spouse status changes at any time during the year, you must notify the Employee Benefits Department immediately.

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to change, add, adjust or cancel insurance, and add or remove a spouse or dependent(s) from insurance. This year we have a new website to provide you with enrollment information. This will allow DCPS to provide you important information and vital updates quickly.

Duval County Public Schools has dedicated Oct. 2 and Oct. 9, 2021 as special enrollment days for married couples who are both employed by DCPS and who cover a dependent child or children on the medical plan. Please allow one hour for this important benefits appointment (30 minutes for each spouse). Both you and your spouse need to attend together to meet with a Benefit Counselor. If you and your spouse are employees opting to enroll in a medical plan but are no longer eligible for the Dual Spouse option, each of you must complete a separate enrollment.
